1. Tommy Dixon’s recent substack piece ‘the end of our extremely online era.’
I stumbled across this piece on the Substack homepage, and it really stopped me in my tracks. I have recently found myself so chronically online that I can’t tell where the line between my own thoughts and the content I’m consuming on social media begins and ends. This article came at the perfect time for me… at a time when I am feeling a bit more anxious; this prompted me to take a step back from social apps and focus on life in front of me.
My favourite quote from the piece:
“I think the era of orbiting our daily existence around a device in our hands will be just that: an era. And it will go the way of smoking and top hats with monocles and communism. Once powerful and pervasive, impossible to imagine disappearing. Now, mostly dead. Receded into a mere memory.
And I think we won't realize how sick we were, how sick and sad and confused it makes us, until after it's over. We will look back on these times with a compassionate sadness. Shake our heads at how ignorant and naive we all were, to give up so much for so little. And wonder why we ever cared so much about strangers on the Internet.”
Dôen (my second favourite brand after Maggie Marilyn) is having a warehouse sale to end all warehouse sales. They went on sale a few days ago, but it lasts until Sunday. These shorts are just magnificent.
3. Blue-and-white striped bedding
I’ve been using Pinterest a bit recently to inspire myself when it comes to decorating our place (groundbreaking stuff). I have since found myself becoming obsessed with striped bedding.
Like, isn’t this just the cutest thing you have ever seen? I found a really nice duvet set from Salt Living, and they are currently on sale.
4. Green Dot by Madeleine Gray
I just started reading this and it is so good and quite hilarious. I am very fussy when it comes to books (I have pretty basic taste - I like to be entertained and not have to focus too much) and this has very much satisfied my craving for something sugary.
5. Sandy Liang satin slingback
I feel like these satin slingbacks would solve all my problems.
6. This red sweater from Assembly Label
Assembly Label is really having a French girl moment right now. This cotton cashmere cardigan is the most adorable thing ever and even more adorable because of the $120 price tag. I really love how it is styled. Thank you for your service, Assembly Label.
I have been looking for a replacement for my favourite Gucci perfume (The Alchemist’s Garden - Musk) because it is $578, and I do not have $578 to replace it. I went into Mecca and told them I had a pretty low budget, and they suggested the Cleopatra fragrance by TOCCA. Safe to say I am obsessed - it smells fkn amazing and is $143 for 50ml which is better than a lot of other quality fragrances on the market (when the fuck did perfume become so expensive).
And lastly, for the people hating on my TikTok video from the other day… This one is for you:
I feel I need to acknowledge what you write:)) ‘Love the shorts, love the stripes (if you’re into stripes, you’ll love Sophie Conran’s sofas)… Eau des Merveilles by Hermès, smells deep and warm… As for the Apps, ‘couldn’t agree more…Until then, Salut 🥂 and thanks for sharing…
